Human Needs
Four generations of Harvard University psychologists William
James, William McDougall, William Murray, and David McClelland, plus
Abraham Maslow -- wrote that human needs are significant organizing
themes of personality and behavior. The influence of these
brilliant works declined because the Harvard psychologists did not
scientifically validate their lists of needs; based all or nearly all
research on controversial (and arguably imprecise) projective
measures; and made few applications of human needs, mostly to
clinical diagnoses based on DSM I and II. The WSMSP provides
forums addressing all three issues: scientifically validated taxonomy
of needs; scientifically validated measures; and application to
numerous practical matters including many timely issues affecting
modern society. |
